Celebrate Spring with Events in Dufferin-Caledon

April 15, 2021

Spring is here! It’s a perfect time to enjoy local events while also supporting important causes and groups in our community. We’re most fortunate to have a wide range of outstanding service groups and municipalities dedicated to serving our community hosting unique, family-friendly events celebrating the best of Dufferin-Caledon. There are several events taking place over the next couple of months we should all mark on our calendars.

The Grand Valley Lions Club will be hosting its 21st annual Duck Race on Saturday, May 25, 2019. It’s a whole day of fun for the entire family in support of the Club’s work to give back to the community. You can begin the day visiting garage sales all over Grand Valley. This is followed by the Lions’ free Community Breakfast at the Grand Valley Community Centre from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Grand Valley Horticultural Society Plant Sale will also be taking place from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The big event of the day, the Duck Race, will start at 2:00 p.m. sharp. The ducks will drop into the river at the Old Firehall Dam and the race to the finish line will begin. It’s a spectacular site as thousands of ducks make their way along the river. There are many prizes, as well as food, bouncy castles, pony rides, face painting, a duck pond, live entertainment, and giveaways. The next not-to-miss event is the 159th annual Caledon Fair, hosted by the Caledon Agricultural Society. The fair opens on Friday, June 07, 2021 and wraps up on Sunday, June 09, 2019. This fair has something for every age group and interest. During the three-day event, visitors can enjoy agricultural displays, an all-British Classic Car Show, a truck and tractor pull, a Welsh pony show, a beef and dairy show, rides, games, entertainment, food, and much, much more! The Caledon Agricultural Society works very hard to bring this annual tradition to our community and to increase agricultural awareness and education, while promoting the welfare of our community and rural living. Lastly, be sure to mark Caledon Day on your calendar. This annual event, hosted by the Town of Caledon, will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to midnight at the Caledon Civic Campus, located in Caledon East. This event is free for all ages and is certain to be fun for the entire family. There’s a wide range of activities taking place over the course of the day, including: a kids zone, a car and motorcycle show, a bike rodeo, a vendor zone with over 50 vendors, a youth zone, and live entertainment on the main stage (stay tuned for the headliner announcement!). In addition to Caledon Day, the Town will also be hosting its third annual Cheers Caledon! on Friday, June 14, 2021 ahead of Caledon Day.
